With a population of more than 64,000 residents, Eagan is the 11th largest city in the state and the sixth largest suburban community in the metropolitan area. For many years, the town was a relatively rural farming community that had the nickname of “Onion Capital of the United States.” In the 1980s, urban growth and infrastructure development caused rapid growth throughout the area.
